Owala A/B Test Mockup

Project Overview

Role: UX Designer, UX Researcher
Duration: 1 week
Team: Mandi Miner
Tools: Photoshop (Mockup)

Context: This project was completed as part of my master's program in UX Design.

Objective: After auditing Owala's e-commerce website for user experience pain points, create an A/B test and mockups to communicate the ideas and test variables.

The Problem

During my evaluation, I noticed the background color changed depending on the product displayed. I tested the background colors to ensure they met WGAC 2.0 AA standards for non-text contrast. Several of the colors did not meet the AA standards, making it difficult for those with low vision or color blindness to view the product items.

I proposed changing all the background colors to the same neutral gray seen on Screen B for a segment of the audience. The A/B test would compare metrics like revenue, abandoned carts, and returns to show how these background colors impact business goals.

Screen A:  the original screen of the Owala website.

Screen B:  the proposed test background color that could improve the user's shopping experience, especially for those with accessibility needs. This mockup was created using Photoshop.
