Mood Wireframe and Prototype

Project type

UX Case Study

Tools

Figma, Figma Simple Design Kit (component library)

Role

UX Designer (Solo project)

The Challenge

Design a mobile app for Mood, a fictional concert venue with three Phoenix locations. The app must let users discover shows, filter by day/venue/genre, buy tickets, and retrieve them — all with shifting requirements mid-project, the way real client work actually goes. No branding was provided, so I created branding as well.

The Process

I started with the provided user personas — Mike, a 41-year-old dad who wants nostalgic shows without a big time commitment, and Lucinda, a 24-year-old who wants to discover new bands through friends — and used them to pressure-test every flow decision. Before touching visual design, I mapped the full screen architecture in low-fidelity wireframes to nail down information hierarchy and navigation logic.

Once the structure held up, I moved into Figma's Simple Design Kit to build a branded, componentized prototype covering four required flows:

New user registration — with text-based identity verification and a "skip" option so users aren't forced through profile setup before they can browse

Filtering — by date range, venue, and genre, with the added complexity that each venue has different open days and genre programming

Sign-in + ticket purchase — from browsing to payment to a confirmation screen that reassures the user the purchase went through

Digital ticket retrieval — replacing paper tickets and box-office pickup entirely, with support for multiple tickets per user

Key Decisions

Gave the homepage a "hero" placement for the best-attended upcoming show, surfacing social proof before the user has to search

Built the filter as a layered, non-destructive interaction (open → engage → apply) so users could adjust multiple variables without losing their place

Designed the ticket-retrieval screen to recommend other shows in the same genre — turning a transactional moment into a discovery opportunity

Outcome

A fully interactive, componentized prototype covering registration through ticket redemption, built to real client-brief constraints (shifting requirements, no branding provided). This is the project I'd point to first to show end-to-end product thinking — not just screens, but a system.

Designing a mobile ticketing experience from a blank slate — persona research to interactive prototype.
